My ceramic business was born out of a passion for creating unique, handmade pieces that tell a story. Originally launched as Smiley Riley Design in 2022, my journey began with screen-printed Buffalo Bills apparel on Etsy. What started as a fun side project quickly led me to discover the challenges of navigating NFL trademark laws, and after receiving a few cease-and-desist letters, I pivoted my focus to what I truly love: ceramics. Initially posting my handmade ceramic items on Etsy, I never imagined how quickly they would take off. When a platter I made for my best friend was featured on TikTok, it went viral—and suddenly, my childhood playroom became a small business hub. In just two weeks, I sold 100 platters, which was an incredible, surreal experience. This unexpected success inspired me to build my own studio, invest in a kiln and a slab roller, and dedicate myself fully to creating ceramic pieces. As my work and business evolved, I decided to rebrand under my real name, Riley Elizabeth, to better reflect the change in my craft and my journey as an artist. What started as a hobby and a dream has now become a full-fledged business, and I’m incredibly grateful for every step along the way. Each piece I create is crafted with care and passion, and I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and sharing my work with you. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!

Don’t let her sweet face fool you—Alberta takes her job very seriously. Whether she’s patrolling the backyard or inspecting muddy footprints near the studio door, she makes sure everything (and everyone) is in line. She’s also excellent at alerting us to any suspicious squirrels or delivery trucks.

Quality Control Specialist & Sunshine Coordinator

Lady can be found lounging in patches of sunlight, keeping an eye on every step of the creative process. She’s a gentle presence who reminds us all to take breaks and enjoy the moment. She occasionally offers approving sniffs to finished platters—her version of a stamp of approval.

Senior Supervisor & Box Tester

Siri oversees operations from the highest shelves and coziest corners of the studio. She specializes in sitting directly on whatever we’re working on and has an unmatched ability to find the softest packaging materials. If there’s a box, she’s in it—testing it for strength and nap-worthiness.
